Apparently once upon a time nobody had to lock their doors because there was little or  no crime. Well that’s what my grandparents loved to tell me anyway, I actually think it was just a way at moaning at the young generation. I’m currently expecting a baby with my wife, it will be very interesting to see if my parents try the same story!

As far as I’m aware there has always been a problem with crime, of course today it’s much more prolific but whether this is just because it’s gained the media's attention I’m not sure.

It’s a sad fact that in America whatever is invented for good will no doubt be abused and used for crime of some sort, the car is the most common example.

Some form of car alarm or anti theft device must be fitted to your vehicle, otherwise it’s very likely that it will be stolen. You may think that your car is worthless and nobody would want to steel it, they would rather steal the brand new BMW you parked next to.

Well maybe that’s true, they would prefer the BMW, but if your car is easy to steal, easy to sell and in demand then they’ll take that. Not all thieves are interested in the value of the car, they may be intending to use it for a “smash and grab” or as a getaway vehicle. Old cars are the most common cars to be stolen because their security is much easier to get around and or bypass.

Almost all modern cars come with an alarm or theft deterrent system of some form fitted as standard because it’s a big selling feature, but what about if you own an older car?

Well it’s possible to fit an after market alarm kit. Aftermarket alarms can be quite difficult to install, and so you should take it to a professional to get it fitted.
